Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has called on the Malawi Police Service (MPS) to arrest every person who is involved in the mismanagement of May 21, 2019 presidential elections.
This follows the arrest of five presiding officers in Lilongwe who were arrested for using Tipp-ex in the presidential polls.
The five presiding officers were stationed at Lilongwe City Centre Constituency during the 2019 Tripartite Elections to be charged with ‘use of Tipp-ex and alterations of official documents’ according to James Kadadzera national spokesperson of Police.
According to National coordinator for HRDC Luke Tembo, the police should not just stop on the arrest of the five pressing officers but everyone who has a hand in the nullified presidential polls must be brought to book.
The 2019 presidential elections were nullified by the constitution court after massive irregularities which followed in ordering fresh elections which were considered to be fair.
