Lilongwe Magistrate Court has formerly charged 12 presiding officers who were arrested yesterday for using Tipp-ex in the May 19, 2021 presidential elections.

The charge, as read out at the Lilongwe Magistrates Court where they have appeared, is that of falsifying documents relating to elections.

The accused have pleaded not guilty before Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Chirwa.

The presiding officers who were hired by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to manage elections in Lilongwe City Center Constituency, are accused of having committed the offence on 21 May, 2019.
