Two Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Youth cadets have been fired from the party for allegedly attacking some top officials during a media briefing held on Friday last week in the capital Lilongwe.

The two have been identified as Alex Mayawa and Alex Chimwala.

DPP spokesperson Brown Mpinganjira has confirmed of the firing in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

“The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has summarily dismissed Alex Chimwala, Alex Mawaya from the party for gross indiscipline and for bringing the party into disrepute.

“This follows their actions in disrupting the press conference conducted by the DPP at Crown Hotel in Lilongwe last Friday February 19,” reads in part the letter.

According to Mpinganjira, other youth cadets who accompanied the two have also been expelled from the party.

The DPP youth cadets assaulted Mpinganjira, Francis Mphepo and two other top officials.
