The Minister of Health Khumbize Chiponda declares that she is ready to resign, if found guilty of abusing Covid 19 response funds.
Chiponda was reacting to comments from legislators after presenting a Covid-19 situational report in parliament on Wednesday.
She is also the Co-Chairperson of the Presidential Taskforce on Covid 19 which allegedly draws huge allowances during their meetings.
Democratic Progressive Party-DPP legislator for Mulanje South West George Chaponda told Chiponda to resign for failing to manage the funds.
Chaponda said many people have succumbed to Covid-19 due to a lack of essential treatment and yet funds were allegedly abused under her watch.
This follows revelations of massive plunder of K6.2 billion which the Treasury released in August last year for Covid 19 response.
The Health Minister has since challenged parliament to investigate if indeed cabinet ministers pocket allowances during Covid-19 meetings.
