Member of Parliament for Mzimba North Constituency Yeremiah Chihana was today given marching orders in Parliament following his remarks that the country’s vice president Saulos Chilima is underperforming due to the presence of Secretary to the President and Cabinet Zangazanga Chikhosi.

Chihana said this today in the August House in the presence of Chilima who went to the House to answer questions in his capacity as the Minister of Economic Planning and Development.

Chilima; Accused of underperforming

In his remarks Chihana said Chikhosi is too powerful and in control of the Civil Service where the vice president is supposed to implement since he is the overseer of public sector reforms.

He further went on that there is a need to fire Chikhosi and that the public sector reforms should be taken away from the office of vice president and be put back in the office of president.

“Zangazanga Chikhosi is too powerful and in control of the civil service where Chilima is supposed to implement public sector reforms. Chikhosi is firing principal secretaries anyhow without following procedure and Chilima has no control over it,” Said Chihana.

Reacting to the behavior portrayed by Chihana, deputy speaker of the House Madalitso Kazombo said he (Chihana) should appear in parliament before disciplinary committee.

Leader of the House in Parliament Richard Chimwendo Banda has condemned remarks by Chihana insinuating that the vice president Saulos Chilima is underperforming due to the presence of secretary to President and cabinet Zangazanga Chikhosi.

Chimwendo Banda; Chilima is a performer

Chimwendo Banda has since said that vice president Chilima is a performer and has proved that.
