Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) has made a u-turn on the national wide strike by teachers across the country, saying the strike is continuing.

Yesterday TUM President Willy Malimba announced that the stay away has been called off because of pressure from the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of education and Commissioner of labour to sign a letter, calling off the industrial action.

But in a statement released today, Malimba says teachers will only return to work after being given the risk allowances.
