Senior Resident Magistrate Shyreen Chirwa has set 23rd March 2021 as a day a case involving former Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority Chief Executive Officer Collins Magalasi shall commence.

Magalasi is answering fraud and abuse of office charges following a role he played in paying accommodation for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials who travelled to Blantyre for a party convention.

It is alleged that Magalasi used his position as CEO for Mera to divert 10 million kwacha to pay for accommodation at Kanjedza lodge in Blantyre where the DPP officials lodged.

Steven Kayuni Director of Public Prosecution said the trial has been slated for 23 March and the State is very ready to parade 7 witnesses.
