A 24-year old man is in police custody at Dowa Police Station for allegedly being found in possession of Indian Hemp commonly known as Chamba without a licence.
The suspect, Mike Ruben, committed the offence on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Nalunga Trading Centre in Dowa after being found in possession of four bags of Chamba weighing 80 kilograms.
On this particular day, one of the police officers was at Nalunga Trading Centre on general observation hence he became with two motorcycles stopping at the trading centre carrying four bags containing unknown things.
Then one pillion passenger disembarked from the one of the motorcycles.
Later, a police officer then went straight to where the two motorcycles were and conducted a search of which he found that all bags were full of the illicit drug.
The illicit drug was seized and the suspect was immediately arrested.
Mike Ruben, who comes from from Mphate Village in the area of Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu District, will appear before court soon to answer a charge of found in possession of Indian Hemp without a licence.
