Police in Dowa have arrested two people for failing to comply with COVID-19 rules and regulations.
The suspects identified as Lazarus Lyson aged 24 and Christopher Tholera aged 19, were arrested on the night of Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Chezi Trading Centre in Dowa District.
The two suspects were arrested by police officers who were on Covid-19 patrol for not putting on face masks and loitering within Chezi Trading Centre around midnight.
Furthermore, during interrogation, the second suspect, Christopher Tholera, was discovered that he broke into the house of Amosi Chimpeni, a businessman at Chezi Trading Centre and stole a 17 inch plasma TV screen valued at K50 000.00.
The recovery of the plasma TV screen has been made.
Lazarus Lyson, who comes from Chinoko Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe will answer a charge of failing to comply with Covid-19 rules and regulations whilst the second suspect, Christopher Tholera, who comes from Malili Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kayembe in Dowa, will answer two charges of failing to comply with Covid-19 rules and regulations and burglary and theft.
