Former heads of state Bakili Muluzi and Peter Mutharika have missed the launch of the roll out of the Covid-19 Vaccine despite the fact that President Lazarus Chakwera invited them.
Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda said this in Zomba at Zomba State House, Covid-19 Field Hospital.
Only Former President Joyce Banda and her husband first gentleman Chief Justice Richard Banda retired have made themselves available to the function.
Some of the religious leaders present include Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa of the Catholic Church and Bishop Brighton Malasa of the Anglican Church. Other delegates are from the donor and international community
Malawi is expected to start receiving the first jab of the Coronavirus vaccine of which president Chakwera and his vice Saulos Chilima will be the first ones receiving the vaccine.
Khumbize Chiponda has however hailed president Chakwera over his commitment in the fight against the global pandemic which has claimed over 1000 lives.
