Former President Dr. Joyce Banda and retired Chief Justice Richard Banda SC have all been vaccinated against COVID-19, a pandemic which has claimed over 1000 Malawians across the country.
The two received the vaccine at Zomba COVID-19 field hospital where President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera launched the vaccine administration.
Apart from Joyce Banda, Thomas Luke Msusa of the Archdiocese of Blantyre and Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara have also received the vaccine.
Over 1 million Malawians are expected to receive the vaccine in the first phase.
The first phase targets frontline health workers, government top officials, teachers and the elderly.
