Minister of Information Gospel Kazako, who is also member of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has applauded paramount chiefs for being part of the first Malawians to get vaccinated.
Kazako has since urged the traditional leaders to help sensitise their subjects against the misinformation against COVID-19 vaccine.
The minister has also appealed to all Malawians to receive the vaccine for enhanced protection against the disease.
Speaking at a daily briefing on the update of COVID-19 situation in the country, Kazako said President Dr Lazarus Chakwera, his vice Saulos Chilima and some high profile dignitaries have received the jab symbolising the safety of the vaccine.
He said although the vaccine is not mandatory, it is important for every Malawian to make a choice to receive the vaccine.
And presenting a COVID-19 situation report for the past twenty-four hours, the minister said 59 new COVID-19 cases have been registered against 333 recoveries and one death.
