Police in Mzimba are keeping in custody a 47 year old man for allegedly defiling a 13 year old girl believed to be an imbecile.

Mzimba police deputy spokesperson John Nyirongo confirmed of the development.

According to Nyirongo, the suspect is identified as Mangaliso Uteka.

Nyirongo said the victim, who is also epileptic, may have been defiled by the suspect on Sunday when she was home alone as her guardians had left to attend to their business at a close by trade center.

Uteka hails from Chakhaza village in the area of Inkosi Chindi in Mzimba district
