Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare Dr. Patricia Akweni Kaliati has been vaccinated against COVID-19, the deadly virus which has claimed over 1000 Malawians in the country.
Kaliati took the jab today at Zomba District Health Office.
The Minister confirmed of the development in a statement posted on her official facebook page seen by this publication.
“I just got myself a Jab today 18th March 2021 at Zomba DHO (Ndalandila katemela wanga wa Corona Virus lero)
“Aja mumafalitsa kuti ndabaitsa kale aja pepani kwambiri,” wrote Kaliati.
Kaliati has since urged Malawians to follow suit.
“Katemerayu sakuwawa nkomwe chonde kabaitseni. Ana omwe sanafike dzaka 18 tisapite kukabaitsa, anzanga akulu akulu pitani akayamba kubaya dera lakwanulo
“Katemerayu ndiofunika kwambiri chonde akafika dera lakwanulo kabaitseni. Lets protect ourselves from this beast that is amongst us,” she said.
So far over 4,000 Malawians have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
