Political Analyst Rafik Hajad has condoned the claims made in parliament by the Mwanza west lawmaker asking president Lazarus Chakwera to fire the Minister of Civic education and Unity Timothy Mtambo.
The Mwanza west Member of Parliament Joyce Chitsulo made the claims stressing that Mtambo is failing to undertake his duties.
Chitsulo cited growing concerns over the killing of the elderly over witchcraft claims and the rising in defilement cases as some of the issues the ministry failed to address.
However, Hajat has disputed the claims saying Malawians should give the minister enough time to fully deriver on his duties.
“The minister needs more time to develop plans that will help to effectively change several negative cultures and mindsets,” said Hajat.
Responding to the claims, Mtambo described those calling for his dismissal as “malicious” saying his ministry had done a lot of work lobbying people off bad cultures and practices.
Meanwhile, the matter brought heated conversations on different platforms with other person suggesting the ministry befits Gospel Kazako who is currently the minister of information.
