Members of Parliament will receive the AstraZeneca vaccine before the end of their current meeting.
Deputy Minister of Health Chrisie Kalamula Kanyasho has confirmed the development.
Kanyasho said that their ministry is set to give the jab to the members of the August house.
“The ministry will make sure that the vaccine has been made available for the legislators before closing of parliament sitting,” Said Kanyasho.
She then dismissed reports that only cabinet ministers are the ones who are getting the jab now.
Members of parliament are expected to finish the Mid-Year Budget meeting next week Friday.
Malawi Parliament has lost four members who succumbed to Covid-19.
The August house currently has 186 members instead of 193, this is so due to the death of the four incumbents and the nullification of three seats by the high court over what the Judge called massive irregularities in the 21 May 2019 parliamentary elections results.
