The Police in Harare, Zimbabwe has on Wednesday killed a 20 years old female during a police chase.
According to Zimbabwe Republic Police National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the robbers hit a home in Marimba suburb from which they went away with cash amounting to US$500, a television set, and a smartphone.
Upon the suspects discovering that they have been surrounded by the police, they drove away in their vehicle and a chase ensued. The suspects fired shots at detectives, resulting in a shootout.
In the process, it was also established that one of the suspects, a female was hit on her chest.
According to Nyathi, the suspect was rushed to Sally Mugabe Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The female however has been identified as Lucy Nyakudza aged 20 years and is believed to be an armed gang member of 7 linked to a series of robberies in Kuwadzana, a residential area in Harare.
Meanwhile, in the process of the robbery, the suspects dropped a phone belonging to one of the members at the scene from which the police identified one of the suspects after conducting investigations.
Prior to the development, the police have arrested 7 suspects who are yet to appear before the court.
