The Malawi human rights commission (MHRC) says it is expected to finish on Friday investigations into a case in which a private clinic Malmed allegedly made special arrangements with the Blantyre District Health Office to administer Covid 19 Astrazeneca vaccination to the Asian community.

Commissioner Martha Chizuma made known of the development while expressing satisfaction with the response the investigation is getting saying there is hope that the work may be finished by Friday.

According to Chizuma who is also responsible for the Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights section of the commission, the findings into the investigation are expected to be released by next week.

“The team of investigators arrived in Blantyre on Tuesday to commence the investigations on the matter and they are yet to finish the work on Friday,” said Chizuma

However, the matter follows leaked information about the arrangement made by the Malmed Clinic which indicated that from 9 AM to 10:30 AM of last Sunday, March 20, was dedicated to the Indians, and later the vaccination will be open to everyone.
