People of Sub Traditional Authority (STA) Mkapita in Zomba district are living in fear after wandering hyenas have started terrorizing their community.
STA Mkapita said that his subjects are living in fear because of the predators which are being spotted in his area.
Director of National Parks and Wildlife, Brighton Kumchedwa said his office will act quickly on the matter.
“We prioritize the lives and we will make sure that we deploy rangers so that they monitor and control the situation in the said area,” Said Kumchedwa.
He then appealed to the people of STA Mkapita to be traveling in groups and not individually.
Hyenas are scavengers and in Africa they are the second predator from Lions.
