United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has congratulated Honourable Rodrick Khumbanyiwa for emerging victorious in Chikwawa East Constituency in the just ended by-elections conducted by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) on Tuesday held by-elections in 7 constituencies and and two Wards across the country.

According to unofficial results, UDF has scooped one Parliamentary seat in Chikwawa East Constituency.

Writing on his official facebook page Muluzi hailed Nkhumbanyiwa for emerging a winner in the constituency

“Congratulations to Hon Rodrick Khumbanyiwa for a very decisive win in the re-run. Your resounding victory is a vote of confidence in your leadership! The people of Chikwawa East have spoken and I wish you well as you continue to serve them. Congratulations to MCP, DPP and UTM. Democracy continues to win,” wrote Atupele.

MEC is expected to announce the results of the by-elections today.
