The construction of new border post in Dedza that will cost at least nine point six million US dollars is now in progress.
The development is funded by the World Bank and the work is expected to be completed by March 2022.
Malawi Revenue Authority Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs Steven Kapoloma said that non tariff barriers due to poor infrastructure is a big challenge at the moment and the new boarder post is expected to address that and enhance tax collection.
Meanwhile Kapoloma said this today Wednesday when Minister of Trade Sosten Gwengwe visited the construction works.
Gwengwe said the new boarder post will facilitate the flow of goods and help cross border traders to do their businesses quickly and easily.
