In Kenya, a 30-year-old man in Gware area, Uriri constituency is reported to have committed suicide after he found his wife dancing with her lover in a night club.

The body of the said man who was identified as Godfrey Karani was yesterday found dangling from the roof of his house.

While confirming the incident, Uriri sub-county police commander Peter Njoroge noted that the man was only known to have taken away his life after neighbours noticed that he had not come out of his house since morning.

Police had to break into the man’s house which was locked from the inside to remove his body.

“He had locked himself inside the house. We found him dangling from the roof of his house,” said Njoroge, adding that the man used a sisal rope to end his life.

According to residents, the rider was informed by his friends that his wife was dancing at a nearby club with another man and he rushed to the club to confirm if what he had been told was true.

“He was informed yesterday that his wife was dancing at a club with another man and we didn’t hear from him afterwards,” Ezra Okumu, a neighbour said.

It is said that security guards had denied the deceased access to the club.

Angered and disappointed, he is said to have returned to their rented house where he took a sisal rope and hanged himself in the sitting room.

“We are conducting our investigations to get to the root of the matter,” the sub-county police boss stated.

The body has been moved to Migori County Referral Hospital Morgue.
