Electricity Supply corporation of malawi (ESCOM) has restored electricity at Mphunzi Health Centre in Dedza  where health workers have been using mobile phone light to assist women deliver at night due to lack of electricity.

The development comes barely a day after various media houses carried out the story on the matter which attracted mixed reactions with many calling for immediate action.

Meanwhile Chairperson of the Health advisory committee Manyozo Moyo has confirmed of the development.

Moyo said that ESCOM Officers went to the area today to install a new transformer and power is now back after three months.

According to reports , ESCOM transformer got burst in past three months and the health workers they were struggling to work during mid-night.

Moyo has since pleaded with ESCOM to buy more transformers for installation in different parts of the country where there are similar problems.
