The Senior Resident Magistrate Court in Mzuzu has sentenced an Indian National, Anand Mandivar, to three months imprisonment but suspended to three years for insulting Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) chairperson for the North, Happy Mhango.
Senior Resident Magistrate Godfrey Nyirenda has also ordered the convict to compensate the victim with K700,000 for calling him ‘a dog’.
It is reported that the two collided on Tuesday night at Kentam Mall in Mzuzu where they were trying to seek services from mobile money agent.
Tembo said that Mandivar reportedly wanted to bypass a queue to get the service and when Happy Mhango, a rights activist tried to discourage him.
