The Malawi government is refuting reports that it has obtained an injunction against the ongoing national wide teachers’ strike.
The teachers led by its mother body Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) wants the Tonse Alliance government to give them COVID-19 risk allowances but the government is refusing to do so.
On Tuesday TUM and government officials were rocked up in a meeting but the two agreed to disagree on the matter
In the evening, social media was awash with reports that the government had obtained an injunction on the matter.
Following this Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) President Willie Malimba also confirmed that he had indeed been served with a court injunction.
However speaking in an interview with the press, government spokesperson Gospel Kazako clarifies that TUM was only served with a notice to appear in court this afternoon and not an injunction.
