On Monday 5 April, 2021, The Minister of Agriculture Lobin Lowe, his Deputy Minister Honourable Agnes Nkusankhoma-MP and some officials in the ministry spent almost 8 hours engaging the management teams from some parastatals and agencies that fall under the ministry.

Lowe said the meeting with the management team was aimed at getting an update on whether the bodies are on reforms currently being championed by the state Vice president of the republic of Malawi Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima under His Excellency the state president’s order.

The minister felt satisfied with how these management teams are working saying he is very confident that through his ministry Malawi is going to change to better.

” Getting these updates, I am very confident that Malawi is surely going to change to better as now my ministry is getting comprehensive updates on everything  and we are also giving them proper directions in line with the recently launched vision 2063″, Said Lowe.

He said Malawi has lived many years  without having fully fledged laboratories where ministry of agriculture can test  chemicals used in agriculture instead, just relying on Malawi Bureau of Standards ( MBS) and mostly in South Africa and other abroad countries.

In his remarks, the chairperson for ADMARC Mr. Kusamba Dzodzi thanked the Minister for organizing such a wonderful meeting  and make to them a promise for a better progress.

” We are very thankful and feel honoured that the  minister has come to see himself the proggress we are taking in the ministry. This is going to help us to work hard than dozing and relaxing. We are also happy to hear that the ministry has set aside a plan to construct fully fledged laboratories which are going to bring change we have never had before” Thanked Dzodzi.

Among the parastatals and agencies in attendance were Pesticides Control Board ( PCB),  Smallholder Farmer Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi( SFFRFM), Auction Holdings Limited ( AHL) , National Food Reserve Agency( NFRA),  Tobacco Commission ( TC), Greenbelt Authority, National Cotton Council of Malawi and ADMARC.
