Officials from Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA) have admitted to Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that submitting quarterly expenditure reports from the 6.2 billion Covid-19 funds was a challenge.
Director for Response and Recovery for DODMA, Moses Chimphepo, has pointed out that funds were sent straight from the Treasury to clusters for use, a development that brought confusion on who the reports were supposed to be addressed to.
Chimphepo has further highlighted that the K6.2 billion once received from the Reserve Bank of Malawi, was transferred to the Treasury.
The DODMA officials appeared before PAC this morning, to give an update on how the COVID-19 response funds were used.
