Keep and Encourage Center (KECE), a Zomba youth-led organization has donated assorted items to 21 elderly people at Thom Allan area, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chikowi, in Zomba district.
The items included soap, soya pieces, salt, candles and sugar.
Speaking in an interview, Deputy Director for KESE, Peter Kamanga, said they want to reduce the problems the elderly people are facing in their homes.
“We were inspired to donate these items looking at the social problems that are negatively affecting the elderly people in this COVID-19 pandemic period,” said Kamanga.
Kamanga said that the organization targeted the elderly people because of COVID-19 pandemic and these group of people are the most vulnerable during the period.
One of the beneficiaries, John Lipato, thanked KECE for the donations they received.
“The help has come at the right time when we are facing financial challenges to buy our basic needs as money is now a big problem in searching for it,” said Lipato.
