Following President Lazarus Chakwera’s order to bar companies implicated in the infamous K6.2 billion Covid-19 scandal, the Public Procurement and Disposal Assets Authority (PPDA) is set to effect the development.

Last week the National Audit Office released a report on how the K6.2 billion covid-19 funds were used following a public outcry on the use of the funds.

He report has names and companies believed to have misused the funds.

Following the move by PPDA, this means these firms or companies will no longer be allowed to supply goods and services to the government.

It follows the recent President Lazarus Chakwera’s order following an audit report that revealed massive looting of coronavirus response funds.

The report further revealed that close to K500 million was plundered through procurement fraud.

In his Sunday address, Chakwera stressed that the PPDA is empowered by law to enforce compliance to procurement laws and procedures
