Police in Nkhotakota have arrested a 28-year-old Ezala Goliath for allegedly defiling an 8-year-old school girl.
The suspect committed the offence on April 14, 2021 at Bango village in the district.
The victim is a standard three part time learner to the suspect and that, she convenes together with her friends at his house for lessons.
Nkhotakota Police PRO Sgt Paul Mwalimwe explained that on the material day, the suspect, sent home early other learners and asked the victim to remain.
He then coaxed the victim to enter into the house to correct some school materials.
The suspect followed the victim into the house and defiled the innocent girl.
Upon returning home, mother to the victim noticed that her daughter had difficulties in walking.
She asked her what transpired and the girl revealed that Goliath had defiled her and that he had threatened her not to reveal the matter.
The matter was reported to Mkaika police unit where the victim was referred to Kapiri Health Center.
The results revealed that the girl was indeed defiled.
Later, on April 18, 2021, police arrested the suspect.
He will appear in court soon to answer the charge of defilement contravening Section 138 of the Penal Code.
