The Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 is today scheduled to hold an emergency meeting to discuss matters surrounding the reported new variant in India.
Health Minister who is also co-chair of the Taskforce Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has confirmed of the development.
According to Chiponda, the decision on whether to ban travel between Malawi and India or not, will be made known after the meeting.
International media reports that India is believed to have a new Covid-19 variant, with more than 200,000 cases registered daily since last week.
This has forced countries like the US, UK New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates to ban flights to and from India.
