A 10-year-old boy is suspected to have killed his one and eight-month-old step brother by piling elephant beans (Kalongonda) leaves in his mouth and nose on Monday afternoon at Kadewere village in Mulanje district.
Mulanje Police Spokesperson, Sub-Inspector Gresham Ngwira confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).
According to Ngwira, officers rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the boy and took the kid to Mulanje Mission Hospital where death was confirmed but its cause was then not yet known.
Ngwira said the boy is in custody of police for safety as there are fears that some people can harm him.
