Condolence Messages have been pouring in for South African rapper Emtee real name Mthembeni Ndevu and his record company ‘Emtee Records’ following the passing of the musician’s childhood friend and manager, Lebohang ‘Lebo’ Maswanganyi.
The record company released a statement on Tuesday, April 27, in which it confirmed that Lebogang is no more and had passed away during the early hours of the day.
The statement released by the record label states that the circumstances surrounding his passing will be made known by his family in due course through a formal statement.
However, Emtee Records has refuted speculations that the deceased was with the rapper during his time of death.
The development follows rumors that the late Lebogang passed away in the studio due to a possible drug overdose.
“In the meantime, we note the unfortunate utterances and speculations that are already circulating on social media around the circumstances of the death.
For the record, at the time of death, Lebo was neither with Emtee nor was he at Emtee’s place or studio.
We view these and similar utterances as inhuman and insensitive to both Lebo’s family and friends in particular Emtee who, at the moment, is trying to come to terms with the loss of a childhood friend.”
The statement ended by asking fans to keep Lebogang’s family, as well as Emtee, in prayer and also thanked them for their words of comfort.
Fans took to the comments section to relay their messages of condolences and to also pay tribute to Lebogang.
