Woman arrested for dumping newly born baby in Pit-latrine

Police in Thyolo District are keeping in custody a 31-year-old security guard for a private company for allegedly attempting to conceal birth.

Thyolo Spokesperson Amos Tione has confirmed of the development.

Tione said that police were tipped off by well-wishers that the accused had dumped a baby in a pit latrin.

The suspect has been identified as Linda Lemani.

However the law enforcers have swiftly intervened and have also managed to rescue the infant.
