A 42- year-old-man in Dowa has been re-arrested for allegedly attempting to sodomise another suspect while in police cell at Dowa police station.
State prosecutor, Joseph Banda, told court that the suspect, Tsoka Baloni, was taken from Maula prison three days ago after being remanded in 2017 for the offence of incest and was in transit to Mponela Police station for prosecution at Mponela magistrate court.
Appearing before First Grade Magistrate, Amran Phiri, today, the suspect pleaded guilty to the charge arguing that he had attempted to commit the offence because he had stayed long in custody without having sex.
The suspect, who hails from Phaninga village TA Dzoole in Dowa, now awaits sentencing.
