Some ESCOM employees in the country have downed tools to force authorities to harmonize their salaries with Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) and Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA).
Workers at Bangula ESCOM office in Nsanje for example have not been executing their duties from 6 O’clock today claiming this follows failure by those responsible to address the concern by April 30, 2021.
ESCOM Spokesperson Innocent Chitosi has confirmed of the strike in an interview with the press
Chitosi has since assured the employees that “something positive will come out by close of business today.”
