Malawi plans to introduce a Family Court that will be responsible for handling family related disputes.
Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare Patricia Kaliati was quoted saying this on state controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
Kaliati said the Family Court once in place will handle disputes that include sharing of property and rightful custody of children in the event that couples are divorcing among other issues.
She said setting up such courts will also reduce the back log of cases in other specialized courts.
