Karonga Police Station has drilled officials of different financial institutions on how to handle and enhance security at the institutions in a bid to curb criminal syndicate which has recently been targeting financial institutions in the country.

Karonga Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Tiyese Chiumbuzo, said there are many financial institutions in the district that do not have qualified security personnel thereby being at risk of being robbed.

He said there is need for financial institutions to work hand in hand with the police on security matters since the men and women in uniform were trained on how to deal with such criminals.

In his remarks, team leader for customer service at Karonga National Bank Service Centre, Godfrey Mtike, thanked Karonga Police for the initiative saying it was an eye opener and has since asked the police to continue with such engagements regularly.
