The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has made several changes in the leadership of the party in the National Assembly following the nullification of the Nkhata-Bay Central Parliamentary polls which saw Simon Vuwa Kaunda losing his seat.

DPP Spokesperson Brown Mpinganjira has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

According to Mpinganjira, the party has appointed Hon Martha Lunji, MP, as the Party’s Chief Whip in Parliament,replacing Hon Vuwa Kaunda.

“The Party has also appointed Hon Nick Masebo, MP, as Deputy Whip and Hon Chimwemwe Chipungu as member of the Public Appointments Committee.

“These appointments are with immediate effect and have already been communicated to the Speaker of the National Assembly,” reads in part the statement.

The new appointments comes ahead of the 2021/2022 national budget meeting scheduled to commence next week and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is expected to preside over the official opening.
