President Lazarus Chakwera has laid a wreath at the tombstone of the Late Chakufwa Chihana who was president of the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD).
Speaking after laying a wreath, Chakwera said his visit to lay a wreath at Chihana’s resting place is a step towards the reconciliation process his new (MCP) has embarked on.
Then Chakwera promised to construct a befitting mausoleum for Chakufwa Chihana and other fallen heroes.
On his part, son to late Chihana, Enock said Chakwera is the first sitting president to follow proper channels in his quest to lay a wreath at Chakufwa Chihana’s burial place.
Enock said it is disheartening that only a few people are using the democracy his father fought for to victimize the majority of Malawians who are currently languishing in poverty.
Chihana died in 2006 at the age of 67.
