State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima has joined the rest of Malawians in mourning the untimely death of Lance Corporal Chitenji Kamanga, a Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldier.
Kamanga was killed by labels on Monday during an attack on her base in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
She was in that country on tour of duty under the United Nations organisation Stabilization Mission.
In the statement posted on his official facebook page, Chilima described Corporal Kamanga’s death as a blow to the nation.
“You have paid the highest price for the FLAG in the line of duty for the country we call our motherland,” wrote Chilima.
He added: “Our supplication to the Almighty Lord of mercy and our Father God in heaven to prepare for you an internal resting place in peace.
“Our most Solemn of prayers are to your family, the Commander in Chief H.E. Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, the Military High Command and all men and women in uniform, friends and family as well as the entire nation for this deadly blow.”
Kamanga was based at Malawi Maritime Force Headquarters in Monkey-bay. Mangochi.
She hailed from Mbayani Village, Traditional Authority Machinjiri in Blantyre.
