Three agro-dealers in Ntcheu District have been arrested for allegedly defying farm gate prices.
The three are Andrea Boniface, 32, Cassam Mwachande, 76 and Nkali Milanzi, 56.
Ntcheu Police spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu, said the suspects were arrested on May 10 at Mphate Trading Centre during a farm gate enforcement operation.
Chigalu said the suspects were found buying maize and other farm produce from farmers without a licence, buying the same at low prices than the government set minimum prices and for using unrecommended scales.
“The suspects are currently in our custody and will appear in court soon to answer applicable charges,” he said.
