Well known business tycoon Thom Mpinganjira has said “it is not correct” that he wanted a favourable outcome for Peter Mutharika of the Democratic progressive Party (DPP).

Mpinganjira said this during defence in case where he is accused of attempting to bribe constitutional court judges.

In his defence, Mpinganjira said he did not have any preference because he is not a member of any political party but explained in his day to day life he supports all political parties prominent in Malawi.

“I fund all political parties if and when they come with a request just like I fund any other issues like schools, football through my organisation,” Mpinganjira said.

He has also denied having political ambitions but is aware people and social media have been trying to link him with leadership in the Democratic Progressive Party and has addressed the issues through press conferences and media in Malawi.

He mentioned; People’s Party, UTM, Democratic Progressive Party and Malawi Congress Party as thec parties he has funded.

Asked if he has dealt with personally with all leaders of the four parties, he mentioned Dr Joyce Banda, Saulos Klaus Chilima, Lazarus Chakwera and Peter Mutharika.
