2 Fathers Jailed 18,20 Years For Defiling Daughters

The Mulunguzi Senior Resident Magistrate Court in Zomba has convicted and sentenced two fathers to 20- and 18-years imprisonment for defiling biological daughters.
Prosecutor for Eastern Region Police, Asma Katete, told the court that 41-year-old Kondwani Maloko Zagwa in October 2020 defiled his 10-year-old daughter by fooling her that he will buy shoes and clothes.
Sub inspector Katete also told the same court in a similar case that another 39-year Chimwemwe Kachikuta has been defiling his 15-year-old biological daughter between July and November 2020, until when the girl revealed despite threatening to kill her.
Senior Resident Magistrate Rodrick Michongwe concurred with the state that it is a taboo for one to have sexual intercourse with own daughter instead of protecting her.
He ordered Zagwa to serve a 20-year jail term while in the other case sentenced Kachikuta to 18 years imprisonment with hard labour.
“This should be a lesson to deter other would-be offenders,” said Senior Resident Magistrate Michongwe at the end of both judgements.
