Police in Ntcheu have arrested five agro-dealers for buying maize and other farm produce from farmers without a licence and using uncertified scales.

According to Ntcheu Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Rabecca Kwisongole the incident comes barely a day after the arrest of three others on similar offences.

“The suspects were arrested at Tsangano Turn Off mobile market on May 11, 2021 during a farm gate enforcement operation,” said Kwisongole.

The five arrested are Lucy Chinyama 38 years, Thanganyika village, TA Njolomole, Ntcheu, Enifa Mkali, 29 years, from the same area. Cecilia Stafford, 35 years, Kalulu village, T/A Lundu, Chikwama Danken Mbata 41 years, TA Vumbwe, Thyolo and Manase Christopher, 28 years, Kasamba village, TA Njolomole.
