A man in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh was allegedly thrashed to death when he intervened and tried to stop his neighbor from beating up his wife. The incident took place on Monday at the Premnagar area of Bareilly.

The accused was identified as Naveen Kumar. Kumar, who lost his job last month, used to repeatedly argue with his wife Deepmala. On Monday, the couple had an argument and the accused allegedly started thrashing Deepmala with a stick.

The couple’s husband, Arjun, made an attempt to report Deepmala. During this time, the accused allegedly started raining blows on Arjun, The Times of India reported. Kumar did not stop thrashing Arjun until the neighbors intervened and rescued the latter.

Unable to gauge the seriousness of Arjun’s injuries, his family took him to the police station instead of rushing him to a hospital. After a complaint was lodged, the man’s family members took him to a private hospital. The man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Rohit Singh Sajwan, Bareilly SSP said, “We have registered an FIR under the section of culpable homicide and the accused Naveen will soon be arrested. Prima facie, it appears that the victim died of a head injury. ” The cops claimed that no arrest has been made yet.
