Bodies of two fishermen have been found floating on Lake Malawi after they were reported missing on May 21 in Dedza District.
Dedza Police Deputy Spokesperson, Cassim Manda, has confirmed the development.
According to Manda, the two identified as Nose Songeya, 30, and Jali Mwale, 45, went fishing on Lake Malawi in the area of Traditional Authority Kachindamoto in Dedza on the said date, and a canoe they were paddling capsized as a result of strong winds.
Manda further disclosed that their bodies were found floating on Sunday, May 23 by their colleagues who also went into the lake to fish.
Postmortem results from the hospital revealed that the two died due to suffocation.
Songeya hailed from Leza Village while Mwale hailed from Fole Village, both in the area of Traditional Authority Kachindamoto in the district.
