Women with Obstetric Fistula have again been given hope, following the reopening of the Bwalia Fistula Center in Lilongwe.
The center was reopened yesterday as part of this year’s commemoration of the World End Fistula Day.
The center, which caters for women with the condition from across the country, was closed to be used as a Covid 19 Centre at the peak of the pandemic in the country.
The reopening ceremony was graced by Minister of Health Khumbize Chiponda and UN Resident Coordinator Maria Jose Torres and other dignitaries.
According to Torres, the rehabilitation and reopening of the facility will go a long way in helping ensure women and girls in the country are not continuing to suffer from preventable and treatable Obstetric fistula.
