A 34-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle in Machinjiri, Blantyre.

According to Limbe Police public relations officer inspector Patrick Muses the deceased has been identified as Mike George, 34, from Nanthoka village in the area of Traditional Authority Machinjiri in the city.

Muses said that a vehicle registration number MHG 853 Toyota Hiace minbus which was being driven by Chikondi Mussa, 21, from Mbalwe village in Traditional Authority Nyambi in Machinga was coming from the direction of Machinjiri heading Limbe along Limbe-Machinjiri road.

On arrival at a place called Andesi soon after Nanthoka in the township, he hit Mike George who was crossing the road from left to right.

Due to the impact Mike sustained severe head injuries. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where he died whilst receiving treatment.

Police have since advised all road users to always adhere to all road rules and regulations
