The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) says it will proceed with preparations for by-elections slated for June 29, 2021 in Nkhata-bay central.

Malawi Electoral Commission Spokesperson, Sangwani Mwafulirwa has confirmed the development.

Mwafulirwa today said  that the electoral body will communicate if there should  be changes.

Mwafulirwa was reacting to a move by Nkhata-bay central then legislator, Symon Vuwa Kaunda, who has gone to the African Court on Human Rights and People’s Rights in Tanzania, seeking review of Supreme Court of Appeal’s verdict.

Mwafulirwa, while confirming receipt of communication on the matter from the Attorney General, says Kaunda has sued the state of Malawi and not MEC.
